Why Blog?

No one denies that clear, concise, and thought provoking writing is a gift.  It is a gift from God. If one actually believes in the Holy Scripture, then it is a gift that God himself possesses and has used throughout time in order to reach all of mankind.

His writing has a message, a purpose, a direction, and an end. It leads us to certain self evaluation, and honest reflection. In the very truest sense, His Word, written and Living, is the underlying source of all genuine catharsis.

All of that being said, I can't readily identify all of these components in my own writing. I write because I always have. It's been the way I've expressed my self since I was very young. I was an avid reader, and at some point in time discovered that I could often communicate better through writing than I could verbally. For some reason, my words get out ahead of my mouth too fast when I talk, I stuttered as a kid. But when I write there is a chance to slow down and look at my words, and make sure I've said what I really meant to. It still doesn't all come out right, but at least I stand a better chance!

So while I write, think, and explore the perimeters of my world, and otherwise occupy space, I am also trying to understand my message, purpose, and direction. Hopefully to exercise those in the way that God intends.

And I recall what James tells us, that the tongue (and by extension the pen) is set on fire by hell itself. And by careless words, hot sparks, a great forest can be consumed. And many can be defiled.
